This photograph was taken at the “Field of Light” installation, created by Bruce Munro, at Ayer’s rock, also known as Uluru, in Australia. By day, this site is a monolith, the sacred home of Australia's Indigenous People’s Origin story. At night, 50,000 slender stems crowned with frosted glass bulbs of light, illuminate a field- the length of 5 football fields – with white, blue, red, yellow, and violet lights. The sight is magical. Up close, one witnesses the architecture of the exhibition- the thousand of wires and constantly changing lights. But, while walking through the stems, the lights take on an abstract quality, like looking at city lights from the vantage point of an airplane. Some times the lights changed colors so randomly that it felt like being in a dream. I also took pictures just of the light movements, swirling, swaying, or outlining the bodies of the visitors. There is no specific path to take, and every vantage point creates a different landscape of light. It was one of the most impressive and immersive experiences of my life. This photograph was created at night, in April 2016.
